The opportunity to strengthen VAT accounting control and governance in a newly established UK team is a strong match for my 21 years in VAT across banking, insurance and financial services. I am particularly interested in contributing my experience in account ownership , reconciliations and compliance to a team building consistent, well-governed processes. In my current role at Brackenwell Banking Group, I lead VAT account controls across transactional ledgers and consolidation balances. I introduced standard review procedures and periodic sample testing , using findings to focus coaching and improve the consistency of month-end evidence. I have also resolved long-standing reconciling items with finance owners, documenting clear account-holder actions. This experience is directly relevant to establishing procedures, supporting colleagues to apply them and testing that they work in practice. My background also covers the wider requirements of the position. At Merebrook Insurance Group, I managed reconciliations involving the organisation’s partial exemption special method , partnered with VAT advisory colleagues to turn technical conclusions into practical accounting instructions, and investigated recurring differences between returns and ledger balances. At Brackenwell, I coordinate compliance improvements with outsourced providers and track exceptions through investigation and resolution. Since 2025, I have contributed VAT accounting requirements and testing support to UK e-invoicing and new product reporting initiatives. I would bring Northbridge a combination of financial-services VAT experience, sound issue judgement and a record of making controls usable across finance and tax teams. My CTA and ATT qualifications, together with my accounting and finance degree, support the practical expertise I have built throughout my career. I am keen to contribute that experience to Northbridge’s UK VAT team and its work on consistent accounting, compliance and reporting. Thank you for considering my application.
