With nine years designing exterior systems for sailing yachts , from concept through production release, I am drawn to the opportunity to develop practical, well-resolved designs within a team that works closely across design, engineering and manufacture. My current role at Masthead Marine Design involves the same combination of detailed exterior design and production collaboration that your position calls for. In my current role, I lead exterior design packages for 40 to 55-foot sailing yachts, using NX 3D CAD and parametric modelling to create production digital twins . I develop surface models and GRP tooling, and design deck fittings, bespoke stainless steel fabrications and installations including pushpits, passerelles, biminis and deck hatches. For example, I resolve installation clashes between these systems and surrounding deck structures before production release, helping ensure the design is ready to build. My experience also covers the technical information and coordination needed to carry designs into manufacture. I maintain drawing registers , design databases, weight estimates , sail plans, deck plans and general arrangements , and provide project managers with material for client specifications and design decisions. I work directly with suppliers, fabricators and production teams to address build issues. Earlier, at Fenland Composite Studio, I investigated manufacturing queries with fabricators, using drawing reviews and workshop feedback to identify practical solutions and prevent recurring fit issues. I hold a BEng in Yacht and Powercraft Design and bring practical knowledge of naval architecture , sailing systems, composite structures, stainless steel and aluminium fabrication. My background spans NX, surface modelling and GRP tooling , alongside 2D AutoCAD and strong Excel skills. Tideway’s focus on taking exterior concepts through detailed design and into manufacture is a direct fit with the work I have built my career around, and I would value the opportunity to contribute that experience to your yacht projects.
