My 15 years in academic libraries, including community college service and my current role at Copper Mesa College in Tucson, have prepared me to support the instruction and research needs of your students and faculty. I am drawn to this appointment’s focus on information literacy , research assistance, and the community college mission. In my current role, I embed in D2L Brightspace courses to teach information literacy online and in the classroom. For example, I shape sessions around course assignments, using practice activities to help students assess sources and move from a topic to credible research. I also provide individual consultations and coordinate live chat coverage, with occasional evening workshops to serve students across different channels. I bring experience creating practical online learning resources and supporting relevant collections. At Copper Mesa, I revamped research guides and short tutorials in response to student questions and course feedback, making databases and research steps easier to use. I review collection use and instructor requests to recommend materials for current coursework and a broad range of student perspectives. My previous academic library roles strengthened this work through course guides, tutorials, and collection review recommendations. Sonoran Valley’s combination of classroom and online instruction, research support, and collection work is a direct fit with the work I do now and the service I value in community colleges. I hold an MLIS from an ALA-accredited program and can work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
